Job Summary:
The Catering & Special Events Sales Manager is responsible for selling and coordinating hotel, banquet, and restaurant products and services while managing conventions, meetings, and special events. This role develops client relationships, prepares proposals, and ensures seamless event execution by collaborating with internal teams and external vendors. The manager also supports marketing initiatives, tracks performance, and delivers creative, revenue-generating event solutions that align with hotel goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve catering sales goals and objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive sales efforts, including networking, prospecting, and cold calling.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Conduct site visits, tours, and client meetings to showcase our event spaces and catering capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create customized menus that meet client needs and preferences.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure seamless event planning and execution.
  • Prepare and present detailed proposals and contracts, negotiating terms to maximize revenue.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to promote Kahler Hospitality Group.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and event details using Delphi and CI/TY.

    Event Planning & Execution
    • Plan, organize, and execute internal hotel and/or restaurants events whether for KHG or revenue generating events (staff appreciation days, holiday parties, recognition ceremonies, team-building activities, ).
    • Coordinate brand-driven and community-facing events within the property (grand openings, ribbon cuttings, seasonal promotions, lobby activations, charity drives).
    • Develop event concepts, timelines, and budgets in line with hotel standards and goals.
    • Partner with Food & Beverage, Banquets, and Operations teams to ensure seamless delivery.
    • Arrange décor, entertainment, and event logistics as required.
    Collaboration & Communication
    • Work with department heads to align events with hotel objectives.
    • Work with marketing to promote internal and community events.
    • Maintain strong vendor relationships (decorators, entertainers, AV, printing).
    • Provide clear communication to staff regarding schedules, roles, and expectations.

    Administration & Reporting
    • Manage event budgets and process invoices.
    • Maintain event calendars and ensure no scheduling conflicts.
    • Track attendance, participation, and ROI of events.
    • Provide reports to leadership on event outcomes and staff engagement.

    Creative & Strategic Support
    • Suggest new, creative ideas to boost revenue generating events.
    • Ensure all events reflect hotel branding and culture.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in catering sales or event planning, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Delphi and/or CI/TY.

Compensation Range

The compensation for this position is $60,000.00/Yr. - $70,000.00/Yr. based on qualifications and experience.
